Inshore: Big, hungry, bait-chomping STRIPERS are the word on the dock!  In the Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout, a combined three-fish weight of 111.7 lbs. captured first place with a $73,453 prize while 110.75 lbs. of rockfish worth $34,833 earned second place.   Third place paid $20,596 for 100.35 lbs.   During the Million Dollar Rockfish Challenge, a combined two-fish weight of 80.65 lbs. easily earned first place.  Second place weighed in at 73.85 lbs. with third place close behind at 72.85 lbs. That type of awesome striper fishing shows why Virginia Beach holds the title of Striped Bass Capital of the World.  Bass targeted in these tournaments had temporarily moved south during a cold snap, but fish from these same schools are now being caught just south of Rudee Inlet in waters right off the beach.   These big rock average from 20 to 32 lbs. with many release citations reported between 44 and 46 inches!  You don’t want to miss the current bite!
